We stayed one night for family visit. Clean, friendly staff, nice restaurant and terrace in the back. Great Sunday-morning buffet breakfast. Room with somewhat dated old-time furniture, but functional and we slept very well. Nice that the windows open for fresh air. Nice walks up the Dorenberg with trails starting from the hotel.

Breakfast was perfect! Air quality is very high because of the hotel's location in the woods.

As you enter the lobby you can see that everything has been very tastefully renovated with soothing neutral colours. Our room was spotless and had also been newly renovated. The problem was with the design. The large shower was integrated into the room meaning that if you were renting this room with your sibling or with an elder parent or a friend then you could not take a shower without the other person seeing you stark naked washing yourself. There was no place to hang a towel and when you opened the shower door after showering water ended up on the floor in front of the bed because the design of the shower door was such that the water flowed forward and not backwards when the door was opened.||||The next problem was the wash basin. It was on the wall in front of the bed.||||Although the toilet had a door and could have easily had a wash basin as there was ample room, whoever designed the room layout opted to have the wash basin out in the open. A very uncomfortable layout. I would not have felt comfortable with this layout had I been alone and as I was with someone it made the whole experience that much more uncomfortable.||||We had dinner in the hotel restaurant. We both had the entrecote steak which was served with a caesar salad (hotel kitchen's variation), potatoes and bearnaise sauce. The caesar salad was a lazy man's variation on the theme. It really doesn't take much effort to do it properly. Having said that, the salad was tasty. The steaks were slightly more well done than the medium rare which we ordered but not so much as to send them back. The quality of the meat was excellent. The potatoes were also excellent. The bearnaise sauce was not good. It tasted like something tastes when it has gone off. It had a sour taste, not sour because of the lemon juice but sour in the sense of milk or creme gone bad. The sauce was also brownish colour; it should have been yellow. Being hobby cooks for more than 40 years and having made bearnaise sauce at home on a number of occasions we know what it should look and taste like. The sauce served was not good, so when the waitress came at the end of our meal and asked us how we liked the meal we told her that we thought the bearnaise sauce tasted off, that it had a sour endnote. She took the sauce to the kitchen coming back a few minutes later telling us that the chef and sous chef both tasted it and said that it tasted as it should. She said the chef had suggested that what was possibly throwing us off was the herb tarragon used in bearnaise sauce. It was suggested to us that we probably didn't know what tarragon tasted like and that was the possible problem. That assumption was received as a back hand. Whatever the chef put into the sauce to cause it to taste like it did is perhaps a question of taste but to assume that the guest has no concept and then to make that clear to the guest is an affront.||||The next morning we used the elevator to get our luggage downstairs. It made a very strange noise and when we got to the ground floor the door opened only a crack. It took us a bit of time to get the door to open.||||The hotel sits directly on a busy road and therefore sleeping with the window open meant a night of constant awakening.

The dinner was excellent (the risotto). But as a vegan, I would like more choice of vegetarian/vegan meals. The service was otherwise very good and the plates looked tasty and well presented.
Room size was good and the dog-welcome treats were a wonderful surprise. In many years of travelling around Europe with my dogs, this has never happened, plus, without an extra pay! I thank you in their name.
If I have an opportunity, I will gladly come back.

The hotel lobby is new along with the restaurant and breakfast room but the room we received was very large and pretty old, not sure if other rooms are remodeled. The room was clean and comfortable the only negative it was room 25 and you cannot turn off the outside light so it attracts a sworn of flies and every time you open the door at night they all come in. The breakfast is very good. The bartender was very accommodating as they were about to close but served us. The staff is friendly and very nice.

Nice mixture of old and new. Nature friendly area, little bit too far from the city for dining outside the hotel. Restaurant though is very good, so one or two nights can easily be eaten there. Room was big, but maybe a bit too old fashioned for me. Breakfest was basic, nothing super but nothing wrong. Staff was friendly, all though the lack of English skills among the hotel staff always makes me little sad.

Travelled to Osnabruck with a colleague on business and he chose to book us in this gem for our stay. ||||The rooms were large and well appointed, going with the guesthouse theme and the beds like at home, comfortable. This is not a modern city hotel for sure, but it was simply enjoyable to be here. Yes, you need to have your own transport to be here and there is no city centre to go to. But there is a wonderful set of nature trails next to the hotel and those are better than any city centre for me. ||||Breakfast was basic but good. Dinner was spectacular in the in-house restaurant - but that is another review !
