Das Hotel ist ein typisches Hotel an einer großen Durchfahrtsstraße nach Washington. Nach Washington D.C. fährt man ein knappe Stunde. Das Hotel ist recht groß, so dass auch viele Busreisen hier einen Stopp einlegen. Der Service ist freundlich. Die Zimmer im gewohnten Holiday Inn Standart: gemütliche Betten, gediegenes Ambiente - aber sauber und für eine Übernachtung mehr als ausreichend!||Enttäuscht war ich etwas von dem hoteleigenen Restaurant: das Essen war ok, das Ambiente jedoch leider etwas ungemütlich. Keine schöne Lichtstimmung und man sitzt doch recht eng.

Das Hotel ist etwas schwer zu finden - zumindest wenn man mit Navigationsgerät sucht. Es gibt hier sehr viele neue Straßen, die - zumindest im Navi unseres Leihwagens - nicht erfaßt sind. Hat man das Hotel dann gefunden so bereut man die Suche nicht. das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist erstklassig. Das Zimmer war sauber und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Auch das Frühstück, das im Preis inclusive war, war reichhaltig und gut. Am Abend konnte man in der bar dann auch nochj einen Burger bestellen.

The lobby area is deceptively nice, but once you get back to the rooms, you're hit with an overwhelming smell of cleaning products that seem to be covering up a musty/damp smell of some sort. The cleaning-product smell had a headache-inducing intensity.

The rooms weren't in a good state. They were run down, with electrical outlets askew, holes in the walls, strange stains on the bathroom walls, and the aforementioned musty odor that was (somewhat) covered up by the overwhelming smell of cleaning products.

The staff were nice enough when we were there. However, we had another reservation for later this month, and we tried to cancel it due to this experience. The staff member told us we had to "call Google" to cancel it, claiming that we had used Google as our travel agency -- and he gave us a phone number that he said was the phone number for Google. Obviously, Google is not a travel agency, and we booked directly from Choice Hotels' website. He also stated the manager was on vacation for the next two weeks, which explains quite a bit. We weren't even trying to get a refund necessarily, we just wanted to make sure we wouldn't get charged any additional fees, and we were met with stonewalling, incompetence, and bureaucratic apathy.

This hotel isn't much cheaper than others in the area. Spend a few bucks more so you can breathe more easily and get better service.

Positive: Do NOT book this hotel. This is one of the dirtiest and most disgusting hotels I have EVER stayed at. I don?t care if the decor is outdated, the building and the rooms were not clean or well maintained. Negative: Reeked of cigarette smoke. Mold was on the bedroom curtains. Bedroom window was broken. Bed was made but sheets did not appear to be changed. Bathroom and bedroom floors were absolutely filthy, like they hadn?t been moped or deep cleaned in years.

This is the absolute worst choice you can make. We arrived and were surprised by how run down the outside looked since the photos online looked decent. The lobby was beautiful, and that's about where the fun ended. We entered the room and were hit with a wall of bleach scent. It was painfully smelly. I still taste it in the back of my mouth. The first thing I noticed were the buckled, previously waterlogged flooring "panels" which are basically paper at this point. The mirror was covered in smeared fingerprints and various wiping off of things. The sheets has stains and the "white" bedding was a mismatch of varying shades of white and yellow with some complimentary hair left in it. The window had mold spores lining it. The furniture was broken and leaning.

We called hotels.com to help, and they told us the front desk absolutely refused to refund but would put us in another room. Suddenly, a group of housekeepers came up to us and started aggressively demanding to see where it was dirty, almost pulling us back into the room. They walked around saying "I don't see anything" for 5 minutes and we finally got them to leave our room by saying we were going to talk to the front desk manager. The housekeeper then started telling us it wasn't their fault. It was maintenance's fault, they're lazy.

We went back to front desk where we were promptly lied to, stating that hotels.com was the problem even though we had already talked to them. They moved us to another room on the upper floor and had housekeeping go through it freshly before we moved in. That room was much, much better without the smell and the floors were decent and no visible mold.

I still wouldn't recommend at all for the hassle we were put through. The bottom floor of rooms shouldn't even be open to customers, they're so bad. Just go somewhere else.

Edited to add We stayed one night and immediately left the next morning, eating the cost of our second night. Neither my husband nor I could sleep a wink the entire night because people KEPT TRYING TO GET INTO OUR ROOM. At least 4 separate times I counted someone trying to use their key card to open our door, at one point it even sounded like they were trying to slide the card between the door and the jamb to open it. It was terrifying and we never knew if that would be the time it worked and what would happen to us if it did.

In addition, but certainly of lesser concern, there was an intensely bright outdoor light shining into the window ALL NIGHT that could not be covered by curtains because, surprise, they cheaped out and bought very narrow panels that won't cover the actual window. There was a very loud machine sound that would come on and off all night that really sounded like they were firing up to do construction even though nobody was around. As the night went on, the heavy bleach and chemical smell began to creep back in and it made it incredibly difficult to breathe.

Lastly, they straight up lied about having continental breakfast, They didn't have any breakfast. We wandered around in the morning trying to see if it looked decent or like we'd get parasites, but we couldn't even find it. I don't think I would have eaten it anyway. I would trust breakfast out of a dumpster more than anything cooked in this building.

So bad. Everything all the 1-star reviews here are true. Our toilet broke at 2am - and when I checked out and told the owner what happened he blamed me for not calling to get assistance at 2am. He kept referring to the Clarion as a "old hotel". Yes, it is a old hotel, but it does not have to be run down and unsafe. Again - all the bad reviews about this hotel ARE TRUE! DO NOT BOOK THIS! And management does not care if you tell them there are problems with the rooms.

Positive: Breakfast was good. Fairly close to things were wanted to see. Thought we could walk to some areas but there was a huge highway separating the hotel and shipping area. The 0.67 miles was deceptive. Negative: Was remodeled, clean carpet and painting but could tell it was done over and over a few times. But, star-rating was correct.

Positive: I selected this hotel based on room price in the area for the night of my stay. Negative: The exterior needs a lot of maintenance. Weeds over growing part of the side of the building, shingles missing from roof, historic home appears to be partly under renovation (windows have stickers in them). Interior of hotel was nicer than exterior.
